Facts about Belarus: Transport

Fact 1. Belarus shares borders with Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and Ukraine. The total length of our borders is 2969 kilometers. More than 2,000 people, about 600 passenger cars and 200 trucks go through border entry points every hour.

Fact 2. The length of Belarus from north to south is 560 kilometers (360 miles), from west to east is 650 kilometers (460 miles). The shortest transport communications linking CIS countries with Western European countries run through the area of the country.

Fact 3. European cycle route EuroVelo goes through Belarus. More than 60,000 kilometers connect 42 countries. The territory going through natural parks- Belovezhskaya and Nalibokskaya Pushchas may become the attention grabber for tourists.

Fact 4. The Belarusian railway is a major thruway of the country. Annually rail traffic transports more than 140 million tons of cargo and 90 million passengers. First railway station was opened more than 150 years ago in Grodno.

Fact 5. Since February 2017 Belarus has introduced visa-free regime for citizens from 80 countries. Citizens of 80 countries should enter via National Airport. Visa-free regime also applies to tourists, who come to our country by land to visit Belovezhskaya Pushcha or the Augustow Canal.
